After 12 days of massive action, the 2019 Asian Poker Tour (APT) Vietnam hosted at the Pro Poker Club, Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam is in the books. It was a breakout series for India with as many as 23 Indians posting scores at the series. Headlining the scorecard was Abhinav Iyer who shipped the Main Event to earn the VND 2,269,092,000 (INR 69.51 Lac) first-place prize, his career-best score.
The other remarkable performances came from Baadshah Gaming’s Madhav Gupta, Adda52 Pro Kunal Patni and Romit Advani, who cashed in the Championships Event, which was shipped by Korea’s Lim Yohwan. It was the 2nd Championship title for Lim who won the same event last year.
Apart from the highlight tournaments – APT Main Event and Championships Event, the series had several exciting side events. India’s well-known pros Dhaval Mudgal and Kunal Patni made several deep runs at the series and finally ended it in style by scoring runner-up finishes in two side events. Mudgal finished runner-up in the Monster Stack II, while Patni finished 2nd in the Deep Stack Turbo II.
Event #18 – Monster Stack II
After the Monster Stack 1 shipped by Michael Kim Falcon, the Event #18 – Monster Stack II was hosted and it drew 141 entries . The VND 11,000,000 buy-in event was taken down by Vietnam’s Cao Ngoc Anh who took home the top prize of VND 328,066,000 (INR 10,08,029) for his win. The 2nd to finish in this event was India’s Dhaval Mudgal who earned VND 216,711,000 (INR 6,65,875). Mudgal had a good series so far. The player had also finished 10th in Head Hunter and 3rd in High Rollers. India’s Eka Vedantham also took part in this event and finished 13th place (VND 23,515,000).

Event #19 – Deep Stack Turbo II
This event saw a lower participation attracting 47 entries in total and creating a prize pool of VND 273,540,000. The event was taken down by Korea’s Jin Pyeonggyu. India’s Kunal Patni finished 2nd in this event to take home a cool VND 57,223,000 (INR 1,75,799) for his runner-up finish. Pyeonggyu earned VND 85,835,000 as first place cash prize along with the beautiful golden lion APT trophy.
Patni also cashed out in the APT Championships Event at 16th for VND 102,508,000 along with Madhav Gupta (15th) and Romit Advani (18th). Patni is one of the most active poker players in the Asian Circuit and has amassed over $426,435 in live earnings. He has cashed out big across various prestigious live tournaments in Goa, Macau, Manila, Berlin and Las Vegas. His best live cash till date is $115,819, which he earned in the early 2018 for his runner-up finish at the € 1,350 + 150 NLH WPTDeepStacks – Berlin.
