The second edition of ‘The Indian Poker Series’ (TIPS) running from 6th to 11th March at King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Europe has wrapped up successfully. While there were several exciting events on the schedule, the biggest highlight was its €500,000 GTD Main Event, which marked end of the series.
The Main Event, which also promised the top five finishers a $10,350 seat into the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) Main Event in addition to their winnings, drew a total of 1,417 entries. After a six-day run, the event concluded with Israel’s Lior Moshe Padoba emerging victorious after a 4-way deal with Eran Cohen (runner-up), Dieter Kramar (3rd) and Miky Ernovitz (4th). Padoba took home an impressive €77,580 (INR 60,89,223), while Cohen and Kramar pocketed €64,607 and €52,744 respectively. The fourth place finisher Miky Ernovitz earned €50,929 in prizemoney. In addition to their prizes, all the top four finishers also bagged a seat into the WSOPE Main Event.
The final hand of the event saw Padoba with 5c 5s and Cohen with Qs Js. The board ran 10h Ah 7s 8h 3d where Cohen missed his straight and Padoba’s pocket fives won him the main event title.
The final day of the main event saw 17 players return to the felts to battle it out for the top prize, including three Indians, Pulkit Goyal, Tarun Goyal and Gaurav Gupta. Among the three Indians, Pulkit Goyal was the only Indian who made it to the FT and bagged €31,845 (INR 25 Lac) for his 5th place finish, along with a seat into WSOPE Main Event. Gupta exited the event in 11th place for €5,348 (INR 4.20 Lac) and Adda52 Team Pro Tarun Goyal finished 16th for €3,841 (INR 3 Lac).
A total of 143 places were paid in the Main Event. Some more Indians to finish in the money included Sameer Tavanandi (22nd), Avinash Tauro (29th), Satyam Surendra (42nd), Arjanveer Chadha (55th), Sanjay Kandampully (61st), Rahul Kumar (74th), Ankit Kapoor (118th) and Satyam Raj (121st).
