Triton Poker High Roller Series Montenegro is currently underway at the Maestral Casino & Resort in Montenegro and will continue till 17th May 2019. Just a couple of days back, Event #7: HKD 200,000 Short Deck NLH Ante Only Turbo of the series took place and it found a winner in Singapore’s Quek Sechariah Sheng who outlasted a strong field of 64 entries, including Jason Koon and Tom Dwan to win HKD 3,700,000 ($481,000) out of the HKD 12.032 million ($1.533 million) in total prizepool.
Playing his first event at the series, the 28-year-old outlasted Kenneth Kee and Paul Phua at the final table to reach heads-up against Peter Jetten. The heads-up lasted just one hand with with Sheng emerging as the victor. This was Sheng’s second live cash and it took his live earnings to $490,844.
The final hand of the tournament saw both players shoving all-in. Sheng had As 9s, while had Qs 10c. The board ran out 8s 9s Ks Ac 6h where Sheng hit two pairs to take down his maiden live title.
After picking up his maiden live poker title in the event, Sheng said, “I’m still a little bit shaky. That’s why this game [Short Deck variant] is so good for beginners. Everybody has a chance.”
As mentioned, a total of 64 entries registered for the event and only top 7 players were paid out. The 7-handed final table was reached after Short Deck Main Event winner Rui Cao‘s went out in 8th place.
