Team India is going strong at the 2019 WSOP. While two of our challengers – Raghav Bansal and Ashish Ahuja are on the FT of Event #42: $600 Mixed NL Hold’em/PL Omaha Deepstack, four Indians have entered Day 2 in Event #44: $1,500 NLH Bounty and they include Madhav Gupta (313,000), bracelet winners Nikita Luther (267,500) & Nipun Java (68,000) and Vinod Megalmani (45,000).
Among the four Indians making it to Day 2, founder of Baadshah Gaming – Madhav Gupta leads with a stack of 313,000 chips. He is a popular face from India with several FT scores in domestic and international tournaments. The player has already picked up 3 cashes at the WSOP with most recent one coming from $ 1,000 No Limit Hold’em – Double Stack (Event #34) of the 2019 WSOP where he finished 716th for $ 1,690. Adda52 Team Pro and India’s first female bracelet winner Nikita Luther is second in chips and will be looking to open her scorecard at the series. Both Nipun Java and Vinod Megalmani have bagged below average stacks and will be looking to stack up to stay in contention.
A total of 1,807 entries were registered on Day 1 of the event and by the end of the day, only 272 remained in the field. The total field on Day 1 created a whopping prize pool of $2,439,450 with first place walking away with $253,933. All 272 returning for Day 2 are guaranteed a minimum of $1,414.
Ignacio Molina has bagged a massive stack of 624,500 in chips to emerge the chip leader among 272 Day 1 survivors and he will be returning later tonight, along with the other 271 survivors.
