A tough fight for the World Poker Tour(WPT) LA Poker Classic came to end as Chris Moorman reigned over Glenn Lafaye to win the title, top money of $1,015,460, a WPT Champions Trophy, a Commerce Remington trophy, and a pair of Gold Monster 24K Headphones. Moorman’s prize money includes a $15,400 seat into the season-ending WPT World Championship at the Borgata Casino in April.
Day 6 had begun today with the final table comprising of contenders like Michael Rocco and Adam Friedman. Moorman was not only the biggest stack when the 6-handed FT began but also the most buzzing player on the table. Moorman has topped a field of 534 players and also stamped his status as an outstanding British poker player. This is the biggest title of his poker career and also the second time he has won a million dollar live cash.
The FT began with a lot of action for Moorman but he wasn’t the one responsible for the first elimination of Friedman. Lafaye’s found favour against Friedman’s pocket 4’s and prevailed in the 19th hand of the final table. Soon thereafter Josh Neufeld went down in the 38th hand when his didn’t hit a board of and the pocket 10’s of Moorman won.
Then on it was a longer battle and the next elimination happened in the 112th hand when Patrick Bruel went all in for a second time. This proved his last when he was behind with as against Moorman’s on a board. He exit in 4th place to win $332,190.
Shortly, the next elimination of Rocco to set up the heads up clash. Soon thereafter Moorman took the chip lead and didn’t seem to look back. While Lafaye did manage a double up at one stage but Moorman always looked in a better place to win. On the final hand Lafaye limped preflop and Moorman raised to 600,000. Lafaye called and the flop was dealt . Moorman bet 525,000 and Lafaye moved all in for 3.9 million. Moorman quickly called with and Lafaye turned his to hope for a straight. The turn and river were to give Moorman the big victory. Lafaye won $662,840 for his runner up finish.
