Asian Poker heavyweight Bryan Huang was in action on the opening day of the Asian Poker Tour(APT) Philippines as he won Event #1 NLH Re-buy defeating 86 runners at the Resorts World Manila. The eight day poker festival in the Philippines capital saw a healthy flow of tournament regs from the Asian scene hit the felt with Tetsuya Tshuchikawa taking down Event #2 Ante Up for Charity.
Others who made their presence felt on Day 1 of the APT Philippines included Tatsuya Ikeda and Iori Yogi; the Philippines’ Ian Marcos, Martin Corpuz, Mike Takayama, Richard Marquez and Euryd Rivera. Also present were Ben Abrahams (Thailand), Alistair Duff (Australia), Kristian Faering (Denmark).
Huang beat the field of 86 entries in the NLHE Event #1 which produced a $20,660 prize pool outplaying Rivera in the heads-up round for $4,950 and all-important APT points for the APT Player of the Year race. Tsuchikawa won the Ante Up for Charity Event for $1,840 where the 46-player field generated a $2,300 donation to the RCMN Feed a Child, Build a Nation Program.
The plan for May 1, 2014 includes two more side events—the Mix Game PLH-PLO at 1:00 pm and the High Rollers at 2:00 p.m. with $300 and $5,000 buy-ins, respectively.
