Wednesday saw the eighth tournament of the ongoing 2020 WSOP Online, Event #8: $500 No-Limit Hold’em Freezeout that attracted an impressive 1,479 players to generate $665,550 in prize pool.
After eleven and a half hours of play, it was Alan “GladiusIII” Goehring who came out on top to capture his first bracelet and $119,399.67 in the first-place prize money. No stranger to the poker world, Goehring has won several major titles and holds a whopping $5,346,961 in career earnings.
Final Table Action
The final table began with Randy “StayAlive” Ohel as the chip leader. The first two players to exit the FT were “xILoUieIx” and Scott “miamicane” Davies who had begun the FT as short stacks. Following them in seventh place was “aceviper” who flopped a top pair but lost it to Robert “bustinballs” Kuhn’s straight.”dudeguydrew” then bowed out in sixth place after his ace-eight was bested by eventual champ Goehring’s pocket eights.”clembutt” fell in fifth place after ace-queen lost to Ohel’s ace-king.
Down to four-handed play, Goehring had almost half of the chips in play. The next victims were the two bracelet winners. Kuhn ran into Ross “BlueTang” Gottlieb’s pocket jacks to exit in the fourth place, while Ohel bowed out in third place after his K-8 failed to improve against K-10 of Goehring.
The heads-up started with both players holding almost even stacks but the match only lasted a few hands. On the final hand, Gottlieb flopped the straight holding king-nine off but it was no match against ace-three of clubs of Goehring who hit the winning flush to eventually take down the title.
