The inaugural Asian Poker Tour (APT) Vietnam Hanoi that kicked off at the Grand Loyal Poker Club, Grand Vista Hotel in Hanoi on 6th June 2022 is running full steam. The festivities of the festival kicked off with the VND 8,800,000 (~$380) Mystery Bounty featuring a VND 1 Billion guarantee(~ $43,125).
As expected, the event got an overwhelming response, drawing in as many as 293 entries across its two starting flights and doubling up its advertised guarantee with a prize pool of VND 2,273,680,000 ($ 98,000), out of which the VND 879,000,000 was distributed in bounty prizes. In the end, the lion’s share of that prize pool went to Vietnam’s Huy Quang Nguyen who eliminated five players out of the nine players on the final table including Son Duc Tran at heads up to win it for VND 625,500,000.
Nguyen topped a tough final table representing three nationalities, seven Vietnam’s players, India’s Vaibhav Sharma who finished in 7th place and USA’s Robert Kiss who exited the table in 4th place.
The heads-up was set up after the elimination of Nhat Nguyen who was running well but then he pushed with Kc 7s and ran into Huy Quang Nguyen’s pocket aces, which won and busted the former in third place for VND 166,310,000. With that hand, Nguyen took a massive chip lead into heads-up with Son Duc Tran who needed a few double-ups to catch the leader. Although he managed one but it all ended for him on the next showdown. The final hand saw Tran pitting his Kh 6d against Ac 10s of Nguyen. The board ran out Qs 6h Jh Ks 2h, giving the coveted title to Vietnam’s Nguyen.
