The heads-up match of the 2022 WSOP Event #67: $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold ’em felt like a World Cup soccer match, with Argentina’s Nacho Barbero clashing with Brazil’s Fabiano Kovalski. In the end, Argentina bagged the gold as Barbero came out on top to clinch his career-first bracelet and a $587,520 top prize. He also collected 16 bounty chips for an additional $48,000.
The Argentinian has over 50 scores to his name, including five final table finishes. The bracelet win took his WSOP earnings to $1,185,734 and his overall live earnings to a whopping $5,250,059.
The final day of the event began with Barbero in massive chip lead over the final six players. He stated the day in a thundering fashion by eliminating Andrew Lichtenberger in sixth place. The next to fall was Maria Ho, who found herself all in with king-ten against Kovalski’s pocket sevens, with the latter flopping a set to bust the popular poker ambassador and commentator in fifth place. The next player was busted by Barbero in the form of Dutch legend Rob Hollink who exited in fourth place.
Barbero continued his domination and finished off Ilya Nikiforov in third place to enter the heads-up with 17,040,000 over Fabiano Kovalski’s 8,100,000. The heads-up lasted over 30 minutes and Barbero carried his lead until the end. It all ended when Barbero limped in, Kovalski jammed, and Barbero called with Kc Qc. Kovalski, with Kd-2s, couldn’t catch up and finished second for $363,116.
