For the fifth straight week, Ole Schemion (GPI#1, =) maintains the #1 spot on the GPI World Poker Rankings, though his GPI score points declined for a second subsequent week. Schemion recently cashed in a single event at the 2015 PCA in the Bahamas. In the Previous week Pratyush Buddiga (GPI#3, -1) moved to his career-best #2 but his stopover at second position was swamped by Bryn Kenney‘s (GPI#2 CB, +3). Kenney’s remarkable play at the past three months of 2014 gained him almost 900 points, and a second place position for the very first time in GPI Rankings.
Three stars – former World #1 Jason Mercier (GPI#5, +6), Scott Seiver(GPI#7, +18) and 2010 WSOP Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel (GPI#9, +7) reestablished their position in the Top 10 and for the very first time in 2015. And another trio of star players WSOP Big One for One Drop rivals Daniel Negreanu (GPI#11, -3), Daniel Colman (GPI#12, -3) and Olivier Busquet (GPI#13, -3), who battled Colman slipped three spots down in the rankings.
On every Thursday, GPI (Global Poker Index) releases a list of top 300 Poker tournament players. To dwell this list of top Poker performers of the World, GPI maintains a Poker Index point system and uses special formula. Through this leader-board, GPI as well announces Player of the Year. Following a third place finish in the High Roller event at the 2015 PCA, EPT Vienna Champion Oleksii Khoroshenin (GPI#119 CB, +137) jumped to his career-best #119. Khoroshenin was recently titled to represent Team Ukraine for the upcoming Global Poker Masters that will take place at Malta in March 2015.
Chance Kornuth (GPI#108, +126) continues to drive upwards to reach the top. Kornuth moved up over 1,200 spots in the past six months. David Vamplew (GPI#62, +56) and Dominik Nitsche (GPI#56, +43) also made notables moves this week.
This week saw Liv Boeree’s (GPI#213, -37) drastic fall in GPI standings. Boeree’s 73rd place finish in the Main Event PCA 2015 and entry of her runner-up finish at UKIPT 2014 Edinburgh to third aging period led to a downfall. Furthermore, a Top 10 score at the Helsinki Freezeout 2014 also affected the rankings of Kimmo Kurko (GPI#156, -21). A pair of Top 3 finishes at Freezeout that Kurko won in 2014 continued to lose value this week.
