Biography-
Greg Raymer who is also popular as “Fossilman” in the poker circuit, is a professional poker player. He was quite young when his family decided to move from his birthplace Minot to Lansing, MI. but find it difficult to adjust there and finally settled in St. Louis, Missouri.
Raymer did his graduation from Parkway South High School of St. Louis. In 1989, he completed his majors in biochemistry. Later, he became a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. In 1992, he graduated from University of Minnesota Law School and started practicing law as a patent attorney. He also worked for a pharmaceutical company called Pfizer.
Greg has a hobby of collecting fossils. He started playing poker during his college days, when he played for dimes and nickels. In fact, he often keeps a small fossil as a card protector while playing poker. Known for his cool lizard-eye hologram sunglasses, the poker pro has marked his presence with many victories and titles like Heartland Poker Tour Player of The Year, World Championship of Online Poker winner etc.
His first WSOP cash came in the year 2001 but the bracelet win came in 2004 when he won the main event defeating David Williams. He came close the following year as well when he finished 25th in the main event in 2005.
In 2006, after the passage of UIGEA, Greg lobbied for the legacy of online poker to be considered as a game of skill and not gambling. He also tried his luck in politics as a Libertarian candidate but dropped the idea later. He also joined team of PokerStars as its member but left in 2011.
Presently, He is a board member of the Poker Players Alliance (PPA). In 2011, he started a poker training school called Fossilman Poker Training and its training classes are conducted at poker rooms around the US and Canada.
In March 2013, Raymer was arrested for alleged involvement in a prostitution racket.
