Last night saw Adda52 wrapping up its flagship tournament – Godfather, which is now in its 9th edition with 20 Lac GTD prizepool and a chance to win 9 Lac Europe Package. The 5,500 buy-in online poker tournament drew a total field of 444 entries and created a massive INR 22, 20,000 prizepool, which was shared by the top 49 finishers with min-cashes starting from INR 12,210.
After several hours of fights, it was Ujjwal Narwal aka ‘fourteenk’ who shipped yesterday’s Godfather 9.0 to take home INR 5,43,900 in top prize after beating ‘Happyfish’ who eventually settled for INR 3,21,900 for his runner-up finish. Some known regs, who finished deep, were Roshan Bharadwaj (4th for INR 1,66,500), Ayan Ray (5th for INR 1,11,000), Shubham Singla (6th for INR 77,700), Ragesh Mishra (8th for INR 49,950) and Goonjan Mall (9th for INR 35,520).
Some notables to cash in the tournament included Deepak Bothra (17th), Anuj Kumar Kodam (26th), Jaydeep Dawer (37th), Abhishek Garg (40th) and Rubin Labroo who exited in 46th place.
Ujjwal started playing poker almost 2 years back after being inspired by the online success of his college senior – Akshay Nasa, who has been crushing it for more than 2 years. He learned a lot from Nasa and even joined a few stables to get better. He has been working hard on his game and it is showing in his results. This win was his 3rd major victory this year on Adda52 as the talented player has already won two tournaments, including Blaze and National Poker Championship (NPC) where he went on to beat a record field of 4,214 entries to claim his best score of INR 16 Lac in top prize.
This was 2nd Godfather win for Ujjwal as the New-Delhi based player has already won Godfather 5.0 in 2018. The other notable scores he achieved last year include his win in Whale, Hitman and Beast (won three times). Post his win, we got in touch with Ujjwal and he said, “It always feels great to win a big one. The field was softer than usual as most regs were off to Vegas but there wasn’t any overlay.”
When asked about his journey in the prestigious tournament, the eventual winner Ujjwal said, “It went pretty smooth for me this time. I had the chip lead since 24 players were left and I held that CL till heads-up. In heads-up, my stack did go up and down but eventually I just took it down!”
